I have been working on a benchmark automation script and hope to make it
available this weekend.

It will work by creating a grid (from scratch) on one or more machines and
then (on one machine) timing each of a user-supplied list of commands.  The
main benefit is in the creation and cleanup of temporary grids over several
machines.
