Oh another thing that might be an improvement would be to have some
sort of thumbnail or small image with the link to the About Us page.
It might be nice for people who visit the front page to see "the human
face of the project" right away.

Hm, for bonus points of coolness, make it be a picture of a face and
rotate among the volunteers' mug shots. Ooh, we could do that just
with apache static file loading and a cron job that rotated the image
every so often. :-)
