Could you try the current trunk version.  If you have darcs installed  
then:

darcs get --partial http://allmydata.org/source/tahoe/trunk/

Else, get a recent tarball from:

http://allmydata.org/source/tahoe/tarballs/

Cool!  I agree with you that something like Tahoe can lead to people  
owning their own information while simultaneously having access to it  
anywhere, anytime.  Exciting stuff!
