Aha!  This could explain some (but not all) of the recent weirdness  
on the buildbots.

Except I can't understand why pycryptopp 0.5.13 behaves like you say  
it does.  Also I still haven't understood why zfec 1.4.4 wouldn't  
compile for you.  Keep up the good work of experimenting and posting  
logs!  Maybe we can get this all sorted out in time for a nice stable  
Tahoe release this month.
