Their answer is that PowerPC is not an officially supported platform  
anymore, but is a 'port'.  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PowerPC

They also suggested you can get PowerPC binaries by adding http:// 
ports.ubuntu.com to your /etc/apt/source.list .  Good enough?
