What about ticket #729 (Tahoe backup should WARN and go on when finding
errors like: links to deleted files or access/read permission denied in
local files/directories) ?

It's IMHO important to have this bug fixed in 1.6 because otherwise
'tahoe backup' is almost useless in real-world use cases.
