Folks:
We just committed the patches to resolve ticket #928. On at least some
grids this should make downloads start sooner and progress faster.
Please try it out! We did a good job of writing accompanying unit
tests for the patch, but in addition to that it would be good to have
some reports from the field about how it behaves for you.
Start with
darcs get --lazy http://allmydata.org/source/tahoe/trunk
or download a tarball from
http://allmydata.org/source/tahoe/snapshots/?C=M;O=D
And then follow the instructions in docs/install.html --
http://allmydata.org/source/tahoe/trunk/docs/install.html .
Also I've upgraded the public test gateway, so you can try it by
downloading files from:
http://testgrid.allmydata.org:3567/uri/URI%3ADIR2%3Adjrdkfawoqihigoett4g6auz6a%3Ajx5mplfpwexnoqff7y5e4zjus4lidm76dcuarpct7cckorh2dpgq/
and you can see reports on the performance of your downloads by using
the "Recent Uploads and Downloads" link from the welcome page:
http://testgrid.allmydata.org:3567/
There are no more functional changes for Tahoe-LAFS v1.6! I hope to
finish any documentation or packaging issues and announce it to the
world this weekend (i.e. within 48 hours).
Regards,
Zooko
