[tahoe-dev] Building from SUMO

I'd like to upgrade my own installation of tahoe to 1.7, and I thought it
would be nice to upgrade all the tahoe dependencies at the same time. So I
downloaded the SUMO tarball and started a build, then got a surprise. It
either frequently found and used older versions of the dependencies from my
system's site-packages, or (for pycrypto) it downloaded the library from
pycrypto.org!
Because I downloaded the SUMO .tar.gz, I had the most recent versions of
all the dependencies in ./tahoe-deps. Why didn't the build use these, and
how can I force it to?
