Folks:

Yes, another couple of days have gone by with no 1.7-beta release, but
that is because we keep finding and fixing more and "corner cases" for
SFTP support (#1037). These are mostly issues of compatibility with
clients such as Gnome's gvfs layer, sshfs, etc. And because we're
looking at committing the unicode support patches (#534). Also we have
found several issues with servers-of-happiness patches (#778), but as
far as I can sleepily remember at this moment all of the known issues
with servers-of-happiness are documentation issues that we can address
after the 1.7-beta and before the 1.7-final release.

So, while 1.7-beta is delayed and delayed, it is also improved and improved. :-)

You are more than welcome to help out with testing any of these three
improvements right now. See the associated tickets for instructions on
how to test them, or join us on irc.freenode.net #tahoe-lafs. Thanks
to newly arrived SFTP beta tester Brian Parma!
He helped David-Sarah get "cp file1 file2" working on
gvfs<->SFTP<->Tahoe-LAFS tonight!

Here are instructions for how to test each feature:

I still fully expect to release Tahoe-LAFS v1.7-beta within 24 hours
(for the sixth day in a row). :-)

Regards,

Zooko
