You can use pkgsrc on freebsd, and really you'll only need python and
about a dozen python modules.
tahoe runs fine on low-end hardware running NetBSD; I'm running it on a
soekris net5501 (ok, that's high-end low-powered hardware).

I would expect that tahoe is in FreeBSD ports, or can easily be made to
be.
