Thanks for the clear bug report, I've filed it as
<https://tahoe-lafs.org/trac/tahoe-lafs/ticket/2388>.

I suspect that this may be a recent regression due to
<https://github.com/tahoe-lafs/tahoe-lafs/pull/138>.

Does your home directory path have any non-ASCII characters in it, by the way?
