This should not cause any problem; I use Tahoe-LAFS frequently under
Virtual Box with Windows and Linux guests, and have never encountered any
bugs specific to running under a VM.

That might be a bit trickier; you'd have to set up a shared folder (or
equivalent for VMMs other than Virtual Box), and symlink the storage/
directory of the Tahoe node to a directory under the shared folder.
It should work, but I have not tested this and can't vouch for whether
it will be free of failure conditions that could cause data loss, or
poor performance. In general I think shared folders are a little flaky,
although my experience is only with Virtual Box.
