 I've opened #1398 (make docs/performance.rst more precise and accurate)
 for the documentation issues and attached a patch there. I do hope Brian
 looks at it, because my previous pass seems to have left a lot of
 incorrect stuff in that document and I would like the next version of it
 to be less wrong.
