 One reason I thought that less likely is that I reviewed [https://tahoe-
 lafs.org/trac/pycryptopp/log/trunk/?action=stop_on_copy&mode=stop_on_copy&rev=726&stop_rev=674&limit=100&verbose=on
 all the patches between 0.5.17 and 0.5.20] and didn't see any fixes that
 could have caused this bug.
