Comment:

 I was able to use the first technique from comment:13 in my
 [https://github.com/warner/toolbed/blob/a354c152f3c05c12016dc7175fa06b010e1a62c9/toolbed/scripts/startstop.py
 "toolbed" app] (i.e. creating a fake in-RAM "plugin", then a sys.argv that
 references it). I'll build a patch that changes 'tahoe start' to use that
 technique so we can give it a spin.
