 Note that the attachments here are 9 months old; any work on adding new
 backends etc. should be based on the cloud-backend darcs branch for the
 time being. In a week or so I will have moved this to git and rebased it
 on top of Brian's accounting-2 branch, but that probably won't affect the
 backend code itself very much.
