 I think this discussion is pointing out a fundamental confusion in tahoe.
 On one hand, it's a filesystem, which doesn't implement POSIX semantics,
 and we're told that FUSE/vfs access is troubling.  On the other hand, it
 has a builtin backup program, even though there aren't really any good
 reasons to blur backup programs and filesystems (consider bup with the
 BUPDIR on tahoe).
