 Oh, I think we can do this. I figured out a 2+3 cross-compatible
 `execfile()` replacement to avoid changing the way we use `_auto_deps.py`
 for now. And I think I can 2+3-ify the version string code too (I've got a
 py3-compatible flavor now, but doing 2+3 shouldn't be too hard).
