[volunteergrid2-l] Introducing new list member

I would like to lurk for a while and get a better understanding of the 
grid (perhaps from the archives, too).

I am pretty sure that I don't have the resources to participate yet, but 
if participation looks good on both sides I can probably upgrade. A list 
of minimal/recommended resources would be helpful. I couldn't find one 
on the Web pages. I have asymmetric DSL, and if the speed is 
insufficient that will be the most likely disqualification. I object to 
the policies on the higher speed alternatives so far, so I may not care 
to upgrade even if its affordable.
