1. I found the tahoe backup command to be non-functional. I ran what you
suggested for months without generating a complete backup with constant
timeouts and unhappiness errors. Try 'tahoe cp' instead, but make sure to
do one file at a time otherwise there will be issues.

2. AFAIK, there is no way to programmatically check that the upload is
complete and correct other than trusting the tahoe client. However, you can
sidestep this by inserting a 'sleep 86400' in there before the tahoe
command. That way you will get daily backups (or as close as possible).
