1. We have at most 20 members (may be modified in the future, with group consensus). Members are expected to be contributors; lurkers may be removed.
2. Respect one another's privacy and security. (Normally Tahoe-LAFS makes it impossible to do otherwise, but accidents can happen, and when they do, mutual respect for one another's privacy is the best defense.)
3. Contribute more storage space than you use but no more than 1 TB (remember that expansion uses up more disk space by a factor of N/K, and that old versions of files linger for about a month before they are garbage-collected).
4. Contribute at least 500 GB of storage.
5. Offer good quality, durable, highly-available service -- commit to maintaining at least 95% uptime year after year. If a server dies, try to rescue the data off of its hard drive. Use careful system administration. Let your fellow volunteers know if there is a failure or interruption of service.
6. Running multiple nodes is encouraged, but please don't co-locate them without first discussing it with the group.
7. Set your node nickname to something that includes your e-mail address, so group members can easily contact you. The recommended form is "-", though operators who provide only one node may omit the hostname (and hypen).
8. Stay up to date. Please try to stay no more than two releases behind the current Tahoe-LAFS version. We also encourage node operators to delay 1-2 weeks before deploying a new release.
9. Configure your node correctly. Use the Recommended Settings. Also make sure that your node's port is accessible through any firewall or router it might be sitting behind, but ensure that your node's web UI is not accessible to the world (to avoid publishing the introducer FURL).
10. Be nice! Kindness and good humor help groups of human cooperate more efficiently.
