[tahoe-dev] Installation much improved in 1.8.x

Hey, Jody, thanks a lot for the encouragement!

Packaging is frustrating and unrewarding work, so it means a lot to
hear that there is at least one user who is actually positively
affected by the work. :-)

The upcoming 1.8.2 release is intended to make the quickstart [1]
setup process even easier and more reliable on all supported
platforms.

One of the problems with changing the install process is that it is
hard to write deterministic tests of it. Therefore we rely on reports
from real users in the wild to find out if we broke something without
realizing it.

Brian is the Release Master for v1.8.2 and I suppose he'll soon be
asking everyone to try out a 1.8.2 release candidate. :-)
