So I still don't understand exactly what you want to change in tahoe.
Do you mean options to create-node to say
--storage-dir=
--log-dir=
--tmp-dir=
which will then leave something in the node config, and have tahoe read
the node config before finding those directories? If that's what you
mean, it's not clear to me that FHS compliance is worth the confusion of
an alternate arrangment, but I don't expect a patch with such an option
to be objectionable.
I do see the --storage-dir option being generally useful.
You probably also want to move the twisted pid file; in BSD hier(7) that
belongs in /var/run.
