tahoe-lafs packaging issues

I'm reading up on this thread and would be interested in helping remove any
old dependencies if it is preventing folks from using the project. I'll
need to page in a few things and jump back on IRC, maybe we can organize a
sprint/swarm to identify, scope, and knock out the main things?
