 attachment:check-interfaces.darcs.patch is much less disruptive than the
 previous patch; it doesn't change the behaviour at runtime, only when
 {{{check-interfaces.py}}} is run (e.g. by '{{{make check-interfaces}}}' or
 '{{{make code-checks}}}').
