 Thanks for filing this.  It seems like there are at least three different
 documentation tasks described here.  (1) Beginner documentation
 improvements (2) Developer documentation improvements and (3) Remove
 obsolete package documentation.  Possible (1) and (2) are themselves
 actually many self-contained tasks.

 Can you file one ticket for each self-contained task and then submit one
 PR per ticket?
