If the general goal is data security, then availability (uptime) is
indeed more important than speed. Indeed, from a cheater's perspective,
offering such a node would not make any sense at all, as our uploads on
his node will be faster than his downloads. So yes, no problem at all
from my side, as long as the node remains online.

That aside, Eugen also has a record of knowing what he does (google
him). A most definite YES from my side.

Agreed. I'm not opposed to anyone, but a 1GB drive costs almost nothing
nowadays.

... agreed, and: from what I read so far, Aaron has some experience with
python, and would indeed be interested to help with tahoe development.
I'm in favor of giving him full access, trusting that he's not going to
bring down our particular grid.
