I've trashed the stock firmware on a net gear stora (stock firmware gives a
third party company access to your data!) and sent it to my parents place
for an off site dumping location.
I did the first full backup locally and, as my data changes relatively
slowly, I do 3-level incrementals off this base image (first level static,
second monthly, third daily.) I may update the first level yearly
eventually by hand but for now my change deltas are less than 2% per month.
I have bigger data files (photos) as well. Data is metered in Australia so
I am writing a "data mule" android app that will load up my phone and
tablet with diff data and apply it automatically when I visit my parents.
That will give me 30-60gb per trip. The app then confirms the data with
rsync from my parents place and deletes the source (diff) data.
