clean up stuff (hopefully none of this was needed. If so, hopefully someone who knows will rescue it)

Debian Packages

Tahoe-LAFS is compatible with various releases of Debian/Ubuntu. There are two forms of compatibility: "apt-get installable" and "runs-from-source". Both are pretty easy. If you just want to download a binary package and install it, you'll need the "apt-get installable" kind of compability.

Most of this page is currently out of date (2011-11-02). Tahoe-LAFS is included in Debian and Ubuntu now, so you probably just want to do

sudo apt-get install tahoe-lafs

See also wiki:OSPackages and source:docs/debian.rst.

If you want to see extensive notes about building and using Tahoe-LAFS on various old versions of Debian and Ubuntu, then please use the "History" link at the upper right to see previous versions of this page.
