announce Laptop Versus Axe

Welcome to Allmydata.org "Tahoe"

Tahoe is a secure, decentralized, fault-tolerant filesystem. All of the source code is available under a choice of two Free Software, Open Source licences. This filesystem is encrypted and spread over multiple peers in such a way that it remains available even when some of the peers are unavailable, malfunctioning, or malicious. The one-page summary explains the unique properties of this system.

Get Started

Live web gateway -- try Tahoe without installing it! (See also the control panel for the live web gateway which has usage and performance statistics, and the TestGrid Page on the wiki.)

"Install Tahoe" tells how to install the software, how to run a node that can upload and download files, and how to set up your own private grid or connect to the public test grid.

Get Involved

The tahoe-dev mailing list is the community forum. The tahoe-announce mailing list is a low-volume mailing list for announcements.

The Dev page is the place to start hacking on Tahoe. It has bleeding-edge source code, development tools (such as code coverage and patch browsing) and documentation.

Documentation

See the Doc page for explanation of how Tahoe works.
