Announcement and News

Happy Birthday to David-Sarah

TWN wishes a happy belated birthday to David-Sarah davidsarah. David-Sarah is a core developer of Tahoe-LAFS and the current release manager. Hope you had a fantastic birthday. Thanks for all you have given Tahoe-LAFS.

Multiple Introducers

The removal of the introducer as a single point of failure is many steps closer to reality. Peter Le Bek lebek is in the process of restructuring the IntroducerClient. This will allow multi-introducer grids losing announcement deduplication logic in the client. You can look at his work here. His work already passes all the current introducer units. He is still working implementing new tests specific to multiple introducers.

Cryto Coding Collective Tahoe-LAFS Grid

The Cryto Coding Collective offers a Tahoe-LAFS grid for its members. Who is the Cryto Coding Collective you might ask?

"The Cryto Coding Collective or 'CrytoCC' is a non-profit collective of independent developers and contributors that strive for real innovation. Unhindered by monetary incentive, arbitrary guidelines or authoritarian coordinators, it allows for an environment where real innovation takes place.

Summary: An environment where you do not have to worry about money, infrastructure or other irrelevant things. All services are provided for free, so go crazy with your ideas!" [0]

The grid totals 27 nodes with 3.5TB for space. Also the grid hasn't experienced a second of downtime since its inceptions. The grid is available for contributors to CrytoCC and is free for non-project projects. They also maintain some scripts (tahoe.sh, url.py and gateway.py) to make working with their grid even easier. Please note, "CrytoCC is at this point not directly involved in the development of Tahoe-LAFS itself." [0]

Zooko's Klog is Back

Zooko zooko announced his klog is back. It now is based on Least Authority Enterprise's (LAE) Least Authority Enterprises TLoS3 service and uses lafs-rpg. lafs-rpg prevents klog readers from uploading data to his LAE account.
