Description (last modified by warner)

if the client is configured to create a private directory, then put a note on the welcome page which says "private directory will be created once we are connected to X servers...", which note is replaced by a link to start.html after the private directory is created.

Since we've stopped making the client automatically create directories, what should we to about this ticket? It seems like the "Create Directory" button on the welcome page is now the "nice UI" for this feature, but perhaps we should add some notes to it like:

Hi there. I notice that you don't have a private/root_dir.cap (not that I'd tell you what was in there, mind you, since this welcome page is viewable by pretty much everybody). Since you just created a brand new empty directory, you might want to remember how to get back here, and saving this URI in your root_dir.cap is an excellent way to accomplish this. It will also give the CLI tools something to work with.

You should either copy this URI somewhere safe, or create a bookmark to it. Otherwise, once you close this window, you may not be able to find your way back to this directory.

thoughts?

I don't think we should do this. CLI users could use better doc in the usage strings and docs files, and they could use a tahoe mkdir command (#259). GUI users already have instructions in using.html.

I vote that we close this ticket.
